The Rocky River is being monitored by Rocky River Police. They have observed river water breaching the bulk head along the west channel and at the Cleveland Yachting Club and then recede. Ice has broken and is collecting near the Metro Parks boat launch and railroad trestle. The river level is fluctuating.
We believe there is no obstruction of water flow into Lake Erie at this time. However, conditions can change quickly without warning. Please take precautions to protect your property, important papers and valuables. Have a plan in the event that your choose to evacuate. Have an overnight bag with medications, phone charger and necessities ready in case you choose to evacuate.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Cuyahoga County until approximately 2 AM January 24th. Be on the alert for potential flooding, leave the area if flooding becomes imminent. You do not need to wait for instructions to evacuate. Only 6 inches of moving water will undermine footing - if confronted with moving water - be safe: avoid the water call 9-1-1 for assistance.
Current river levels are below the bulk head. Broken ice remains in the river. However, weather conditions may change during the night and the river level can rise rapidly, with little warning. Be prepared.
